This is how the upper playground at Lowell looks today. The lincoln log structure is 30 years old and the slide is held together with duct tape. The kids love the slide- three across is the best - and everyone will be sad to see it go.
built in 1917, is a K-5 elementary school in Bellingham, WA. It is closed for the 2008-2009 school year for an estimated $4.5 million seismic retrofitting paid for by a voter approved bond measure. Parents, neighbors and children are using the school closure as an opportunity to replace the 30-year old playground and convert an asphalt play area into a grass field.
